a Bangalore Georgian commissioned into the Indian Army from the Indian Military Academy has been an alumni of Defence Services Staff College and an Instructor in Gunnery from the School of Artillery, Deolali.
He has vast experience where he has participated in active counter insurgency operations, in Miao and forward posture at the India China Burma Tri junction, flood relief operations, desert terrain in Rajasthan and the Rann of Kutch in Gujarat, operations in the plains of Punjab and Western Kashmir across Munawar Tawi, as the AQMG operations 14 Corps in a Corps from Manali through the Siachen Glacier to the Zojilla Pass. His experience includes that of a systems analyst in the Software Development Group for the project Artillery Combat Command and Control System, as well as a tri service exposure including defence and state govt civilians as Deputy Director Personnel at the NCC Directorate, Karnataka and Goa. He was also an instructor in the School of Artillery for the Automated Data Processing courses.
Requested Premature Retirement from the Army after commanding 74 Medium Regiment in March 2006 to follow up his fatherís Mission of giving back to the society. Prior to joining the Indian Army, has considerable experience in Advertising intimately working out media campaigns for giants like Bombay Dyeing, Vimal, etc in Bangalore.
An innovative outlook resulted in introduction of hand held computers for live firing in the Indian Artillery in 1987 as recorded in the Practice Camp report of 63 Field Regiment (Vir Ahirs) covered by an Instructor from the School of Artillery. He also developed innovative Solar Powered Sign Posts using design developed by college students whom he financially supported. These are still operational in his unit. His concept of eSeva while commanding a unit was a milestone in troops welfare which is emulated in number of army units today.
In 2000, his millienium objective precipitated founding of the ELíEN Education Trust, a general purpose charitable trust registered with the Govt of Karnataka in memory of his father LN Ghosh who has been a beacon in this own time and style. It is a family and friends operated trust focusing on charitable activities in the field of alternate energy, free education for intelligent children whose parents fall below poverty line, provision of financial advise and guidance to anyone irrespective of caste creed or religion.
Having been in civvy street, as well as during his tenor in the army while interacting with ex servicemen, he realized the critical need to bringing an essential realization within serving defence personnel, that of financial independence to be achieved during IN SERVICE TENOR so that on retirement there is no dependence on meagre pension. This is just as applicable to the society in it myriad forms of communities.
The Trust if funded by independent business interests of the Trustees initiates innovative methods in general charitable activities as well as to bring sustainable living to the community.
